SABRE ES9038PRO

Theres one in the Aliexpress listings made by Breeze Audio. That one has 5 x 2 channel worth of op-amps that once can swap.

Now, i have not heard them myself so how good they work and sound is still a big unknown to me too.

Just that the option to swap opamp chips completely is good thing to have imo.

Doubt it, 9038 Pro consumes a lot of power. Even in Desktop DAC, people is having hard time implementing it to get it working properly

So this why probably why at cayin n8 thread they said they chosen ak4497eq because its more power efficient.
So no ess 9038pro dacs for a whille.

for portable DAPs that uses ESS 9038PRO check Cowon Plenue L, interested how it will perform, spec wise it is really impressive..

Just compared it to my dx200 wich was released 1.5 years ago. Still beats the pleune L in specs. Specialy with amp8!
Dsd512
6.2vrms
Other specs are prety close.
Dual 9028pro vs single 9038pro.

Dont know if pleune L can be better seriously.

Shame isn’t it ? Too hard to bring DSD512 to Portable players. But let’s charge an arm and legs for it

Also what an odd idea limited to 256gb microsd card. Like come on really lol

Only concern what can a cross talk off 144db do?
Vs dx200 with 122db?

Higher crosstalk is typically a better soundstage and separations. However, the real practical measurements of these crosstalks are more likely theoretically stimulated by a computer, and not real world testing. There are more than 1 brand with claim of >120db cross talk, but measured horribly in real world, and ..... let’s not disclose it.

And the thd+n is super low in dx208 0.0002% none of daps go that low!
Its funy but my hiss is lower with amp8 vs amp4s and thd+n is 0.0002 vs 0.0003 and i can hear it. I really must have true tiger ears so neeet :)
