....."No."

Try to call rather than sending emails. The one time I dealt with Grado customer service I called the parts department (I took a look but I no longer have the number on file unfortunately) and spoke to a very nice woman who said to just send them in and she would take care of them.

Why? They are stating the obvious. You destroyed the headphones in your misguided effort to “burn” them in. In all honesty the warranty shouldn’t apply in a case like this since the headphones were not damaged by “normal” use.

Mitch

I don't think you have enough information to make that judgement call.

Sounds like one of the common Grado QC problems, try a search for "grattle".

Dude, I have an EQ setting I use for fun with my SRs with bass maxed and even playing RUN DMC's "Dumb Girl" at headache inducing volume the Grados weren't even stressed. I'm honestly not sure if you can blow one of these drivers without making a serious effort.

You can register your warranty card online btw.

It's not like utarch00 started them out of the box bass heavy at distortion levels.
What did he do wrong???
Leave them unattended during burn-in???
What, did they get lonely and die of a broken heart???
I'd say way more than half of head-fier's use this process.
I've got 270 hrs. on my 701's. Almost all of it unattended so I can note the changes without psychological adaption being a big factor.
I've used a variety of music, including bass heavy.
I reiterate, what did he do wrong???
utarch00, let us know how it turns out.
I would also call Grado and not rely on e-mail. Sometimes the more personal approach will have better results. JMO.
Good luck,
Jim

how about looking through the rear of the housing, and seeing if one of the wires has come loose?

...That sounds more likely to me than having fried a driver.

Duncan, I will check for a loose wire.

I am going to call Grado on Monday, because I assume they are not open on the weekend. Does anyone know what Grado's turn around time is for repairs.

I did not say that I will not pay for them to be repaired. I will if I have to. I just wanted everyone to know what happened. Also, wanted to know if this was normal?

I certainly did not think I was going to get beaten down by doing something that I thought was a common occurance here.

Thanks to all that have been helpful and I will keep everyone updated.

I've had my SR325's up so loud to the point that it hurts to listen to them. Then, I've taken them off my head and cranked it even more - they double as great speakers. Crap are they loud. Never damaged 'em...

My RS1's (#1059, lucky me...) have a tendancy to get a hair or something in the back side of the driver and cause a rattling on low notes - I just blow into the back and it's solved...
