Rudistor 5.1 + Grado GS1000

On certain tracks the the GS-1k sounds absolutely wonderful (rich, alive, natural). And on others they sound like bose triports on steroids (lots of treble and bass weak midrange). There are certain things it does that my MS-Pro, HD650, AKG701 simply cannot match.
I will try some tuberolling and see if I can tame some of its deficiencies. I feel that if I can accomplish that, it will be worth it. If not then maybe I can hope for a Alessandro Music Statement 1000 one day.

(I know RS-1 only with the stock pads.) Generally GS-1000 are fantastic to me and on the same level with my Edition9. But with Twin-Head no doubt brighter than RS-1. Absolutely not in a bad way, just slightly brighter, noting more. E9 highs are more smooth, but I like a bit roughness highs, they are more realistic to me, not always but sometimes.

I like the strong highs too. More real. Standing next to a live trumpet is not a pleasant thing when the high notes are hit.

Are the E9s boring or cold in the midrange? I was interested in those for a time, but I read too many negatives from people with the same taste as me. Also, I couldn't stand the Proline 2500s.

I'd love to exchange a few more lines with you, but I think we're a bit off topic.

This thread is already offtopic. Once again it's just about people telling GS1000's strengths and weaknesses. Like everyone wouldn't know them already.

If your comments were meant to be sarcastic then I missed it. Sorry.

Liking the pain and headache. It's called masochism.

Proline 2500 are to me absolutely unacceptable. One big disaster. But E9, that is quite different story. It is very difficult to answer – how are they generally, because they are most amp-depending headphones I know. I get to the Twin-Head E188CC by Mullard, and they are dark, sad and in a “silver” tonality, characteristic for Grados; I get E88CC NOS Tesla with gold grid, and they became bright, optimistic and with a “gold” kind of sound, like Stax Omega II. Just fantastic potential and plasticity. Right amped they are absolutely gorgeous with far more power of sound than any other headphones.

^ Thanks Piotr Ryka - good to know they are different from the Proline 2500 sound. I may have to reconsider them one day. I know they don't isolate all that great, but I would like some isolation as all my phones are as open as can be.

I'd speculated that Mr. Grado wanted to beat the K1000 with the bass enhancement on the GS1000.

My GS1000 sounds like Koss Porta Pro when I plug it to a not very well designed amp.
