Anybody tried this combo? So what you think of it.

I mean Rudistor 5.1 with one phone output. Old model, I guess, cos new one have 2.

Thanks.

I didn't know that RP5.1 has ever come with one headphone output. Are you sure about it? The only difference in this new C-model is that it has high and low headphone outputs (old one had same impedance on both) and RCA output on back.

My comments probably won't help you much but here we go.

Actually when I first time used GS1000 it was out of my RP5.1 amp. That time they sounded like crap and my opinion hasn't changed much after that. My tubes were probably Amperex back then so they definitely weren't optimal for GS1000. I'd recommend some warmer and fuller sounding tubes for GS1000 (like Mullard).

With my friends Wadia + SP Supra combination GS1000 sounded clearly better but I still didn't like them at all.

Wow. I wonder how old that model is then. Some pictures of the innards would be nice also.

Mullard was very good for Grados and W5000. Rich and full sound. Amperex was more about speed, details and clarity (good for HD650).

I never heard Telefunkens.

It looks pretty much identical to the one I owned. I just had two headphone outputs.

I didn't get the age from the owner, so if you say they are identical, then must be a custom made one, isn't.

I have read / heard that Sennheiser HD600/650 are the best with them, so the fact that GS1 wasn't, is not surprising.

Yes the synergy between HD650 and RP5.1 was amazing. Very good pair.

Bleh.

Grados sounded very good with RP5.1 also. You just have to do some tuberolling to find the optimal combination. It's not the amplifiers fault that GS1000 sucks.

Well, my Aspen doing pretty good job with them, seriously no BS. But I am so interested in Melos, cos everyone seems to advice them as first, so it must be something between those two.

And GS1 aren't sucks, just not your taste

ha ha Patu's a hater

- Patu's friend aparently loves the GS-1000.

While the Melos brings all the power, speed and control out of the GS-1000. It doesn't soften the highs. So, the Melos isn't the last word for the GS-1000, but it is a good combo, no doubt.
