When Rivera Hybrid Headphone Power Amp meets Viva tube preamplifier! KING & QUEEN

I used to wonder why there is no separate pre amplifier and headphoe power amp configuration even in top notch headphone system as HE-1 and Warwick Aperio gold, now I realize that it may be simply because headphone doest require that much power, separate amp combination is used to drive hundreds and thousands watt loudspeakers.

Besides, the excessive wattage combined will inevitably create background noise, hiss and noise, which is more noticeable in dynamic headphones.

Despite of that, it is still significant the ways preamplifiers make the sound alive! Pre-amplifier do make difference in tuning, tonality, stage, seperation and so forth!

Has anyone here ever compared AIC-10 to AFC-10? I know AFC-10 is a power amp instead of a preamp, but how about their performance? Currently I'm using a hugo tt 2 which is workable with AFC-10, I don't have a clue about which one to choose if I want a hi-end headphone amplifier.

AFC-10 is an amp only and requires a preamp (volume attenuator) or source with volume control).
AIC-10 has built in volume control.

AFC10 does not have the Balance versiob right now

and with afc10 you can select more preamp to match

I cant belive I actually prefer Matrix X-Sabre Dac (with AQ Blizzard cable) to Chord Dave in my crazy insane viva L1 tube pre amp & Rivera AFC 10 power amp headphone system.

Still waiting for my holo May which has been 4 weeks, I feel R2R might be the better direction for Rivera.
