Reviewers wanted - Sound Blaster products
Oct 19, 2015 at 5:18 PM Post #271 of 291
I'm going to add screenshots for the Sound Blaster Central app, the SBX and CrystalVoice pages are essentially identical (with different colors) for the PC and X7 apps. I'll also make the font and formatting all pretty...

For me, the surround processing and EQ are key features, and I mainly use my X7 instead of my Schiit DAC and tube amp because I want the surround and I game more than listen to music. I don't have a device to support NFC pairing or aptX, so I can't test those, so I depend on other reviews that can test such things out of my usage.

I'm with Evshrug, reviewing the feature-packed E5 feels like an odyssey - and I didn't even use the gaming features. About halfway through...

Just wanted to point out, my impressions of the SBX and CrystalVoice suites are updated and coming along. This link is still ok for helping other reviews feel a little less marathon, should scroll the reader right to the appropriate part of the page:

Edit: nmatheis wrote up quite a good review of SBX and the mobile "control center" app in general in his review. I think he did a great job from a music perspective, and it's great to see another's view. Now that I've read it, I think I need to go test if Bluetooth music streaming and controls don't work at the same time!

Thank you @LucasCL again for this opportunity. Again, sorry for the late posting. I've had a overseas trip, after which work was so crazy I kinda just hit the sack after getting home, for almost 2 weeks. Together with the multiple editing I did.........

Still, any and all comments/feedbacks from everyone will be very welcome.
Its my first review for a source afterall, and only my 3rd.

Hey guys, we had very good response for our last reviewer engagement and now we are looking for an additional 5 more reviewers to test out the latest Creative iRoar Go portable wireless speaker.

The iRoar Go is our first speaker to incorporate Creative’s groundbreaking Super Wide technology that delivers a startlingly wide audio experience from a small device. Normally, speakers of this size play back content without realistic left and right channel imaging. But with Super Wide, iRoar Go’s intelligent processing ensures that your ears perceive left and right sources in their correct place with amazing accuracy!

Some other key features:
IPX6 splashproof
- 5 drivers with built-in subwoofer for awesome bass
- Integrated digital music player for lossless audio playback
- Versatile playback options: Bluetooth, USB, microSD and USB flash drive
- Free Sound Blaster Connect app for audio personalization and music controls

You can find out more about the Creative iRoar Go here: http://bit.ly/iRoarGoHeadFi

To apply, simply reply this thread with the details stated below. Applications will close 7th October 2016. Only selected reviewers will be contacted.

How would you help us to evangelize the product:-
I dont have many BT speakers but My followers and friends do, They own many brands, but creative is slightly lesser known for its BT speakers, Give me a chance and I will be able to Show them that this thing is miles better than theirs ( i hate those Bose and Beats speakers, too expensive for their quality) with better bass and can be a pool side companion too.

Well not so much evangelise - but I did take the Roar2 to the last meet we had, as well as showing it around friends and family. I'd also try to set up a review tour in NZ if I could get any interest.  If its anything like the Roar2 it will be a wonderful product.

None that are really in its weight class at the moment (only a TDK Trek Micro and Muse M-680 BTC), but I've got good experience with a number of portable/semi-portable Bluetooth/docking speakers (B&W Zeppelin, Zeppelin Air and Zeppelin Mini, Harman Kardon Go Play, Bose SoundDock 10 and SoundDock Portable, and last but not least a model by Yamaha with wooden veneer top (don't remember the model name anymore)) as I was looking for something to replace my mini-system in the guest room few years ago which ended in DIYing a pair of full-range speakers. So I am at least familiar with and very interested in portable speakers.

I have had this for a long long time - it has helped on many rainy nights to raise the volume of my MacBook enough to defeat the weather trying to get into my Motorhome

This is new since Christmas - it was bought for my girlfriend and is downstairs on a shelf in the kitchen

Ok , a little over the top for music I agree , but I still use this as a music system when in company- it is a little impractical but it has an Ipod dock as an extra. Portable? No!

The tried and trusted way of course! I would send this product out to all my friends in the UK Headfi community and get them to write about it- if it's a great product it'll get lots of good publicity.
I will write a review on HeadFi
I will write a review on Amazon
I will post a video on Youtube
I will post a video on GooglePlus

Do you own any similar products? If yes, which: No, but I do own 2 Creative 5.1 Surround Sound system. T6300 and one more which is slightly higher than T6300 but am unable to find the model at the creative website. Could it be out of phase?

How would you help us to evangelize the product?
I would love to write a review focusing on it's sound quality.

As I'm a fan of creative (ever since I build my desktop workstation back in 2012 and specifically chose a motherboard that has the creative recon 3di soundblaster chip in it) YES Just for the chip i chose this motherboard over the other gaming motherboard.
(was blown away by how it manages to process my stereo sound files and convert them on the fly to 5.1 surround which in turn worked perfectly with my creative 5.1 surround system.) I can't believe that I've actually wasted money on an asus sound card for my older system which was lacking in dynamics (and even wasn't capable of fully immersing me with the surround sound experience) compared to the recon 3di chip in my new motherboard a.k.a G1 Sniper 3.

Comparing the Creative Recon 3Di to the Asus sound card (not sure of the exact model but it was the lower tier model costing around 100sgd)

All this was tested using the same creative 5.1 T6700 surround speakers setup

Asus Sound Card:
Sound signature was dry, nothing seem to stand out. Bass was underwhelming and muddy. Treble was almost non-existence. Mids were average.
Also on the box it states that it has support for dolby surround sound and that it is capable of upscaling stereo 2.0 sound file to 5.1 surround on the fly. It worked as stated but the experience was sub-par at best and there's no way to further tweak the settings not even an equalizer.

Creative Recon 3Di:
After building my new system and installing all necessary apps, i plugged in my creative speakers from earlier. (Before this point was initially planning to replace them for the logitech z906 surround speakers as I initially thought that the dull sound quality experience was due to the speaker and not the sound card itself.)
I was greeted with an aesthetically pleasing looking creative app "Sound Blaster Recon3Di Control Panel". And was even more delighted to see the amount of customization options which were available for me to tweak the sound experience. So I played a couple of tracks (with all settings in the control panel set to its default), and boy was i blown away by the immediate difference of how the creative inspire speakers sounded like. It felt like i was listening to a brand new speakers. The Bass was strong and had character (although slightly boomy especially in the upper low end frequency) and the mids were now thick and rich. The treble also had more presence now. But the most significant difference of them all was how the sound was presented. The treble felt lively and has more character to it such as flying from the left channel to the right channel. And my 2 rear speakers now gets to show it's full potential. While playing Taylor Swift's Fearless, I'm fully immerse with sound from front to back. The rear drivers mainly handle the ochestra and string instruments while the center driver handles vocals and left/right channels handle treble. After testing the default settings, I stumbled upon the bass management settings. It had 2 checkbox in it. a) Redirection and b) Subwoofer Gain. After enabling both settings, a scroll bar was available for tweaking the Cross Over Frequency which allowed customization from 10hz to 1000hz. After settling for the 200hz crossover frequency, i played the same Taylor Swift Fearless song, and was blown away yet again by how the bass changed for the better. The bass was now more toward the clean and aggressive side. It has more speed now and was less boomy in the upper mid bass and now sounded like thunder! The sub woofer now offloads everything from the bottom end to 200hz frequency range. The 5 speakers now sounded more light and had more "air" to it. Finally to fine tune the sound signature to my preference, i played with the 10 band equalizer and now my speakers has a similar sound signature as my 3BA iem westone um 30 pro.

Ever since then, i have been recommending my friends and any strangers i met along the way to creative sound cards as my go-to card and strongly urge them to carefully consider the sound card they choose for their system as it plays a significant part in sound quality especially for surround setup. If the creative iRoar Go produces exceptional sound for a Bluetooth speaker and is capable of producing a good strong but clean low-end non-muddy frequency and non-fatiguing highs I will have nothing but praises for it and will definitely share the info to others.
