REVIEW: Travagan's home "Red" Headphone amp and "Green" and "White" Headphone Amp/USB DACs (UPDATE 4-08)

As stated in that review, the Cute Beyond is more laid back sounding, and the Travangas Red is lighter and brighter. Both are quite good, though.

I have not rolled op-amps, and do not intend to. Where solid state amps are concerned, I prefer to review them as supplied.

I will certainly look forward to reading your report HeadphoneAddict as I have just placed an order for the Travagan Red headphone amplifier.

Sometime ago I replaced the six JRC op-amps in my computer soundcard with the National LM4562 and was pleased with the results.

It will be interesting to read the differences of the 11 op-amps you tried compared to the original LM4562.

HeadphoneAddict thank you! Can you venture an ETA for the review?

Before April is over.

I still have several single channel opamps to try on a 2:1 adapter in the Red. The White has the opamp socket too boxed in between caps and volume pot to fit a 2:1 adapter, which I didn't realize till I had it apart.

So, I'll be trying AD797, AD743, OPA627, and NE5534 in the Red.

Absolutely! That would provide excellent sound for the money.

I didn't review them, but they sound quite good, and are remarkably full range for the very small size, although there is no real bass of course.

I'm sorry I cannot help you there - I have never heard the Glow.

I'm currently looking for an amp/dac combo in the 250-400 dollar range for my k701s. How do you think these will do with them?
