[Review] The $50 Koss KDX200 - an audiophile detective story...

How does the KDX300 compare to the KDX200? Are there any nice cheap iems with a biocellulose diaphragm? The only one I saw listed was $170.

I haven't heard the KDX300, but recently found this review of the KDX200, which includes a comparison to their siblings. While I concur with a lot of what he's saying (especially about highs), it's interesting that the reviewer found the KDX200's bass to lack impact in comparison with the KDX300. Well, since the KDX200's bass level is already a bit too high for my taste, I don't think the KDX300 would be for me.

Sony E888 (earphone)

I already have the E888. i am looking for something new and better, preferably as an IEM rather than an earbud. The E888 is hard to find now anyway, and there have been many fakes around. I have had my E888 for over 10 years, but have been careful with it.

this earphone is the improved version of much cheaper ruk30 (and probably keb40) which makes it totally different from kdx100. koss model numbers can be confusing. i used both kdx100 and kdx200 and there wasn't any similarity between them, like they are from different manufacturers.

kdx100 obviously a member of the plug series (judging from the pictures) which has it's up and downsides but we can't say it's a lower model than kdx200. so i don't know why koss named them so similar, like they are revisions of the same product. but again judging from the pictures, something tells me that kdx300 is just a very small revision of the kdx200.

i trust koss on sound quality but their model numbering is weird. i don't know if they doing it on purpose though.
