Though I agree about the DDM look and its lack of portability. Who needs IEMs that can only be used at home, which seems to be the case with the DDMs. I also know at least one owner who says they are worth their price, but no more, so there is at least one dissenter as to their being on par with IE8s et al. He has since sold his pair.

 
 
Sure there may be one who's not thrilled and has sold, but if you look at the vast majority of DDM owners you will find they're by and large very happy campers. One 'dissenter' in the huge majority does not an informed consensus make... as you were always so fond of pointing out under your existing banned ID. Besides, why even speculate in this thread about an earphone you have admittedly never heard or have any experience with? That's something you used to hound other people for. 
 
I've done plenty of back to back comparisons of the DDM/IE8, and I can attest that to my ears they do quite handily surpass the Senns.

I was lucky to take part in the loan program offered by Benny and right now I am not sure if I should thank him or curse him 

I love bass and all my previous iems were chosen because of their bass reputation (Denon750, Klipsch X10, CSK70 and FX500) until I found perfect happiness with the W3 and stopped being concern with upgrade. I was curious about the DDM, FX700 and SM3 but I just had to plug my W3 and I would forget about it. Until I tried the radius.
These IEM really surprised me. They have the best bass I heard: deep, taut and textured. Somehow I felt the FX500 reached a tiny bit lower but they have less impact and are not as detailed.
Some complained that the mid were recessed but that was not the case for me, coming from the W3. The higher mid were nicely upfront ( great for female vocal) and high extend nicely without becoming sibilant (I  like sparkly high). I though the W3 would have the edge concerning details and speed being armatures but surprisingly the Radius were equally good. But the most enjoying part was the way the Radius layer sounds and instruments. Their 3D head-stage might not be the most realistic but it is very seductive and great with electronica. 
I reluctantly have to admit that I preferred the DDM over my W3 with most of the music I listened. The W3 offer a slightly a more "hi-fi" and realistic presentation with more precise high  but the Radius are just more fun.
 
Considering the Radius can be bough for £120 in the UK, they are simply amazing. I am definitely getting a pair ( or should I jumped to the FX700, which some people seems to rate higher??? Although there are more than twice the price of the Radius 

) 
 
If you enjoy bass I would definitely recommends those. And thanks again to Benny.
 
PS: On a minus points I have to say the cable suffers from microphonic (so not great when using on the move). The fit and comfort was actually OK and they surprisingly stayed put but what were they thinking when they designed it?  The cable exit the iem toward the back instead of downward??
Oh!, and I used some Sony hybrid tips and a cowon S9. With Comply it was bass galore but the overall SQ suffered and it was getting too much and fatiguing after a short period (even for me!)

I think this is what I didn't like about the DDM.  That and the slightly grainier mids than the MD's.  If you like the effect the DDMs are fantastic.  It was just too distracting for me, pulling me out of my musical experience.

That newer version probably won't be happening for a long time. Start of next year is probably the earliest since the current ones was released early this year.

I'm wondering if the new DDM will replace the current DDM, or will they figure out - "Hey we could actually sell this for a lot of money!", release it as a new flag ship with pricing more similar to the top tier models?

I regard DDMs are priced low then most of the top tiers models out there mainly because  Radius DDM, also know as HP-TWF11R or W Pro are also companies first Hi-Fi / hi-end audiophile product.
Have anyone seen their older models earphones? most of them cost around 60-90  USD price range. They are actually fantastic sounding.
I had an opportunity to audition few at ALO AUDIO shop in Portland Oregon. Some of m favorite are the wooden earphones. Priced for $79 US as far as I recall. it is a deal for sure.

Yet after examining Radius webpage one can conclude they are mainly making products for Apple users. Below is a link to a headset which I auditioned at ALO. This are actually not bad neither. I also read this headsets are sold in Apple stores in Japan and are certified apple for iphone 3-4 GS models.
