Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings

Don't know if it's dealer specific but bought mine in uk and got two sticky discs with mine. Messed first one up and left it until I saw Bruce's video! To be honest after putting a bit of pressure on the scroll wheel initially while turning, it's loosened up quite a lot and I would believe after a bit more use it shouldn't be an issue

So if i understand this correctly, this wheel sticker is not included in the box of the QP1R and we will need to contact Questyle to get one? Why is this not included in the box? I tried this both with and without the sticker at AXPONA earlier this year and it is a must to operate IMHO. For the cost of this player shouldn't this at least be included so we dont need to go through the hassle of contacting Questyle and then waiting for it? Just seems to make sense to me.

It does come in the box with all players shipped after the skin was developed, as a matter in fact, it comes with one already applied to the player as well as a spare.

We are giving a couple of them, free of charge, to all customers who have ever bought a QP1 or QP1R prior to the skins being developed.

You should still apply the other skin you have as it will protect the wheel from scratches and dirt, as well as it really does make the wheel a bit easier to use.

a bit BS as I never received one, and was not even given a reply after requesting it from either Bruce or Moon Audio. Just saying.

Where do you live, what state?

I cannot speak for Moon Audio, but if you ever requested a wheel skin from us, you would have received a couple of them. That said, Moon Audio has also been very good about getting them to customers all over the country (even customers who did not purchase a player from THEM) and including them with new players they sell. Now, in all fairness sir, they have been selling QP1Rs for a lot longer than the wheel skins have existed, so it would be unrealistic to expect them to have included a wheel skin with every unit they've sold, ever. We started sending quantities of skins to our dealers around may and June of this year, only a few months ago. When did you purchase your player, and was it from Moon Audio?

I would be surprised if there are many people here who have asked for a wheel skin and not received one. If so, please just contact myself or Netforce, we'll be more than happy to send you a couple.

I live in Australia. I get the impression that Questyle only gives a rats about business in the US. My troubles with my unit are well documented earlier in the thread. I've received zero customer service from both Questyle and Moon Audio (where I purchased from).
I've had to resort to my own diy solutions to solve my issues. Fortunately they seem to be working.

Thank you for the information and explanation. I was not aware of this.

Thank you

Just checking in to say I picked up an open box of these. Great sound with my Earsonics sem9, more body to it than my Pioneer DAP. Just wish it streamed Qobuz! And that track wheel leaves a lot to be desired. But overall happy so far.

Just a little sad the QP1R still can't show covers properly, almost always not showing the lower end of an tagged cover

That's a first complaint like that I've read - and you're right...I didn't even notice or care, since the progress bar is on the lower part of the screen.

With that said, you can try adding blank area to the cover so the blank area won't be shown and the rest of the cover can show.

Let us know how it goes and your process of doing so!

hey guys, sorry for being a noob on number. I looked at QP1R's output max which is 1.9v rms and compared to dap that i have owned, Opus in this case which has 2.3v rms. Doesn't this mean Opus has better driving power than QP1R? I have seen the same number with AK70 - 2.3v rms, feel like QP1R is left behind somehow

You are not the first one get puzzled by the numbers yet first hand experience and review (see first post or others) tell different story, due to the current amplification. It has no problem driving most cans and iems out there (again see first post on equipment list and comparison).

Numbers are not everything; the QP1R, as others have mentioned, has the power to drive most any headphone out there, and with aplomb.

Opus #2 (I didn't listen to #1 yet due to time constraints) was nice, but didn't sound as detailed and coherent as the QP1R when listening to the same test tracks from my micro SD cards.  Driving power was satisfactory (I didn't test max volume levels).

that's big surprise. I have Opus#1 side by side in comparison with QP1R and found it on the same level but different presentation. To think they charge Opus#2 3x the price of #1 is just ridiculous. I just acquired QP1R few days ago so maybe need a bit more burn-in . (As for comparison, it was out of 2.5 mm balanced on Opus#1 vs QP1R SE. QP1R hisses more on ciem and I was informed that my newly acquired ciem coming at the end of this month makes it hiss like a snake)
