Review: Questyle Audio QP1R - With Multiple Headphone and IEM Pairings
May 26, 2016 at 11:11 AM Post #1,936 of 7,140
Anyone have a travel case suggestion? ... to hold both a QP1R that is wearing a dignis case and a pair of IEM monitors? ...

I ordered the below item to see how it works out ... the dimensions seem ok .... and the case really isn't 'hard' like the name but it will protect things well enough to be placed in a backpack or suitcase

@moedawg140 mentioned some cases in his review at the beginning of this thread.  Not sure if they're what you need, but you might considering checking them out if you haven't done so already.

Yes I'm having trouble aligning the wheel with the corresponding notches on the black scroll ring. Btw, are you sure that you glue the middle of the wheel? If you do that won't it prevent the whole wheel from spinning? Also could you tell me the name and type of glue you used?

Cheers.

The glue is applied to the underside of the centre select button. Since the select button is installed at the centre of the scroll wheel it does not interfere with the turning of the wheel when properly installed.

I used an industrial strength adhesive (Permabond 910) designed for metal, but any adhesive designed to bond metal and readily available from a hardware store should work. As far as I can tell the glued select button is the only thing holding the scroll wheel in place.

You should be able to do a dry fit test on the assembly before gluing. With the scroll wheel engaging the tabs and a finger on the centre select button just ensure that the scroll wheel turns freely with another finger and that depressing the select button operates the switch beneath. Then remove the select button, apply the glue and replace.

Hope you are able to get it working.

Well I finally had enough of the scroll wheel, so I decided to do a little DIY:

1st I got a normal screen protector and traced the wheel with a marker:

Then I cut out a hole in the screen protector:

Then covered up the select button with some tape before applying some Stone Grip:

The Stone Grip was supposed to be clear and transparent but not quite. But it worked and I can now turn the wheel easily:

I'll look into this.

Strangely enough, I had read somebodies suggestion about wetting your finger and then trying the scroll wheel, and it works perfectly like that. I have put the wheel skin on, and it's working well. I can certainly see the reasoning behind the skin being developed first to protect the wheel from getting scratched, because that could easily happen. I look at it as simply serving a dual purpose by making the wheel more responsive to touch as well.

This is an issue with Apple, as unwarranted ejections with various .mp3-type devices and storage mediums have had the exact same issues:

And more, but these are proof enough that it's an issue with Apple and not necessarily with the player itself.

My Mac with 10.10.5 does the same thing with USB-connected external hard drives.

I would not doubt it at all - some of the links talk about USB-connected external hard drives as well.  A long time ago my friend wanted to fully use her Mac and devices/programs, so I installed Bootcamp for her.  Defeats the purpose of using a Mac, but it worked for her.

Thanks Moe for the AK comparisons! I for one think the QP1R can go pound for pound with any of them at a much better price.

You are most welcome, my friend.

Hopefully I can listen to the AK300 at Newport and add more comparisons. Only issue for a while now: it takes roughly 1 minute to add 1 photo and dozens of seconds to press return/make new paragraphs.

Well if it punches at AK380 levels I think I already know the answer. You're not alone either, Mr. Steve Rochlin from enjoythemusic.com also says as much.

The AK380 Copper is one of the DAPs I've listened to so far that is pretty close to the QP1R in sound (even though the treble is even more accentuated and bright sounding than the QP1R, to my ears).  Mr. Rochlin is an awesome guy in person...the stories he tells me is literally something else!  I need to step up my sports/running shoe game when I'm around him as well! haha
