Interestingly it's available for 7000 RMB on TaoBao. I thought the MSRP was 899 for the QP1R? Is this actually a reversal? It's now more expensive to buy Chinese stuff from China?

Great review, going to take a couple of trips to digest it.
One note - I'm fairly certain that you heard the Pandora Hope VI with the deeper pads that now come stock with it, the SQ and signature is much improved with the original low repulsion pads.
Reading your review I am definitely buying this. It works well with what I have (Pandora Hope VI, Ethers, soon Ether C), and the sound characteristics sound akin to my CMA800R monos which I love.
Also, see my edit above - misread and you did hear the original low repulsion pads with the Hope VI.
That is a tough one to answer at the moment, so this is definitely not a FINAL answer (as for me at least, I do not have final firmware) however - at the moment, there is a file limit, so - if you have a LOT of music, best way to access your files is by going directly into the mSD / internal memory (in the same way you do on the FiiO series of players)...Thanks for the great review, but I have a few questions. First, if you use 2 micro SD cards, will the QP1R shuffle all the files into a single library or can you only access the contents of 1 card or the on board storage at a time? Second, once the QP1R reads the micro SD and generates the library, does that information stay in place or does it have to re-generate the library every time you turn it on and/or switch cards? Finally, will it be compatible with the larger micro SD cards? Thanks.

Has anyone heard both the QP1R and the Hifiman 901S; which sounds better?
Keep in mind this is entirely my personal opinion, and I encourage everyone listen to both on their own before deciding, but the QP1R produces more enjoyable sound for me. I had the HM901s and have the QP1R.
If "Update Media Library" is set to automatic, it will update when the player is disconnected from a computer or a micro SD card is inserted while the player is on. If it is set to manual, then you have to go into "Settings" and select "Update Media Library" to update. I usually update manually, as I prefer to insert the cards with the power off.
There is a single library that is accessible through "Play by Category". "Browse Files" accesses the files directly bypassing the media library, and therefore shows the micro SD cards and the internal storage as separate locations.
The unit has only been tested with 128GB cards, when the larger cards become more available, we will test them. Most likely there will not be an issue.
