Hey guys and gals,
 
This is the first update (not major, but an update nonetheless) in a while.  Anyone who teaches and is a parent knows how time-consuming either or both can be!  Anywhos, updated the QP1R review as follows:
 
(Q31) How to update the QP1R - added Firmware 1.0.8 release and update notes (edited)
 
(Q33) System settings - added settings to reflect the most recent 1.0.8 firmware release.
 
I recently purchased some IEMs and some headphones, but a few that I really like with the QP1R are the Venture Electronics Monk Plus Espresso, Philips ActionFit Sports earhook headphones, and the crazy bassy Skullcandy Smokin' Buds 2.  This is one IEM that I wouldn't recommend to those that don't want an uber-fun sound signature.  Perfect or even near-perfect?  Of course not...but fun? Yep.

Could you please you write, how to do it? I do not know if it was just part 10.0.8. On QP1r I only 10.0.6. I do not have the card. Thank you.

Go to the Home screen. Scroll down to System settings. Press the center of the wheel to select it. The third item on the list is volume knob lock. Scroll to it. Pressing the center of the wheel changes it between off and on. If set to On, the volume knob does not work if the screen is off (locked). If set to Off, the volume knob will work if the screen is off (locked).

@sarga will need to update to 1.0.8 to administer the volume knob lock option.  Also, the screen is not locked, but the volume knob can be if the screen is turned off.

Also, @sarga, I would update to 1.0.8 at least since 1.06 may have an issue with unit shutdown at the 10 minute mark, discussed last year: http://www.head-fi.org/t/778877/review-questyle-audio-qp1r-with-multiple-headphone-and-iem-pairings/2310#post_12754180.

Ok. It looks very simple. I am glad that this problem solved 10.0.8. When reading this thread on QP1r, I'm only on page 130, it is certainly also commented ..

I haven't heard of a Micro SD card that didn't work with the QP1R - should work fine, but let us know if it doesn't (or if it does).

sorry to ask how is the eq on qp1r, i read some have had issues with it
 
I was wondering if someone can give me input about the eq of qp1r, i know many do not use eq, but to me its an important aspect i look for in a dap
 
and any comparisons to the newer high end wm1a or dx200

This may not be very helpful but I think that the EQ function only works on certain file types. So in my case I found a slight eq bump to favor my IEMs with certain types of music but I am unsure if it always works. Someone will chime in I sure as this is discussed back in the thread.

Eq doesn't work with DSD or 24 bit music.

Does anyone know the benefits to upgrading from 1.02...? I haven't had any issues with battery indicator or other problems mentioned but seems like I'm pretty far behind on the firmware updates.
