Yup that Schiit might fix the issue but that's another 100 bucks.. + your udac3, that $225 in total.
im planning to buy the Icon Dac ($299) because of those power issues with the usb. I have some question to
wolfgang0119 but he doesn't reply yet.

I have a uDAC-2 which fits the bill nicely for on-the go listening or when I don't want to be tethered to a wall outlet.  However it is noticeably inferior to my HDP.  I am curious if the uDAC-3 offers more headroom and better resolution than the uDAC-2?

Fair point on the pricing... though considering that I have an HDP with the fully upgraded LPS power supply maybe I'm not one to talk

Wolfgang no longer works for Nuforce. Try contacting Mod Liao: modl@nuforce.com

Personally I do not feel the uDac3 is a big enough jump to warrant the purchase if you already have a uDac2.

Armaegis,

I tried to isolate my udac and place it far from any electronic device, i also make sure that the Usb cable wont
touch any electronic device and i use Asio4all, no more popping/crazy sound coming from the udac.
I think this popping background noise is coming from its cheap Usb cable..

I have just one doubt, I'd like to understand why the udac3 properies in Windows shows options of 16 bit and 32 bit, instead of 16 bit and 24 bit. I mean, when I go to playback devices, then I select the udac3 and finally I go to the Properties, in the screen I see options to choose of 16 bit and 32 bit. This is an image of my screen:

I tried the udac 3 this afternoon but why i cannot see the 32 bit support? only 16 bit.

My Windows 8.1 64bit is showing 32/96 as well, which is odd as I remember it only supports up to 24/96.

that's weird, even 32 bit i cannot see..

I just tried another USB DAC that employs the same SaviAudio SA9027 USB receiver in uDAC 3 and I am seeing the same 32/96 support - so I assume this is probably another Windows 8.1 glitch as I am very certain that the other USB DAC only had 24/96 support back in my Windows Vista days.

Actually i tried udac 3 and icon dac, both cannot see the 32 or 24 bit on windows. But the icon dac manage to play DSD files, i also tried some 24/96 and they play.
but the windows default format bothers me since i cannot see a higher bit than 16..

^ last time i check the udac-3 and Icon Dac im using Win 7 32-bit OS. i really cannot understand why the Sound default format cannot see 24 or 32bit just like the others..

It is probably just a PC problem. Try uninstall the driver in device manager, unplug uDAC3, then replug it.
