Here we go, my German Maestro GMP400 fitted with SMC connectors (3.5mm sockets won't fit)

I'd love to hear how it compares to the AKG K712!

If only I had a pair :frowning2: I think they would compare quite well.

Also I forgot how good they sound out of the Feliks Audio Espressivo amp, this is now the MKII version, sounds even better. These headphones really scale very well.

Dekoni Elite Velour TH900 pads are a very good fit on the GMP400, retaining the airy and neutral sound signature but with better separation and width. Also the comfort is superb with these pads, also I got rid of the SMC connectors and hardwired a 2m home made toxic cables scorpion 24awg cable to them.

These also sound great out of most integrated amps. Marantz PM-5005 here, Project Debut Carbon running into it playing a bit of Dead Swans today.

If you have these headphones, the Dekoni pads are a must in my opinion. They really raise the performance whilst retaining their redeeming qualities.

Also listening with a good tube amp is pure sonic bliss, they disappear on your head due to their weight and the plush Dekoni pads I have on mine. Super comfortable for hours and a neutral and detail sound signature.

Anybody heard both Q701/K701 and this, how does instrument separation, imaging and soundstage compare?

Do you mean the MB Quart QP 400, for sure. The brand German Maestro does exist since 2008, and is the succesor of MB Quart.
Company behind is the Maestro Badenia Akustik und Vertriebs GmbH in Obrigheim/Neckar, Germany. The formerly MB Quart had become insolvent in 2008.

Hello, I'm new to the forum after reading the OP's original review and recognizing that the cables had been replaced. I also own these headphones but recently had the right channel go out, so I'd like to open them up and troubleshoot. Can anyone kindly offer some instruction on how to disassemble these, including cable removal?

Many thanks!

Really sorry I missed this reply, take the pads off and there are some screws to undo the driver from the main housing. Super easy to do.

I'm still using my pair - just got the xDuoo TA-26 which is a nice little tube amp to use with these.
