Thank you. Yes, that is precisely what I intend to do!

I want to use it with my soon to be heavily modded LD Mk. III (the components for the various mods are still in the UK).

No problems I'll give you all the details as soon as I check the circuit.
So let me get this correct, you're gonna add the APE-02s DIY to your FA-002w to use it with your heavily modded LD Mk III?

Yes, I will build an adapter box to connect between the LD Mk III and the FA-002ws.

The LD is stock at the moment, save for Voskhod driver tubes. I will convert it to run 5687s as output tubes (and have some nice NOS Sylvanias ready to go). The notoriously poor volume pot will be replaced by a DACT stepped attenuator (I managed to find a compact one from Hong Kong). I may also consider re-purposing the preamp outputs as a second input which bypasses the input caps (for known "good" sources which are free from DC).

The APE-02S consist of the following components. Two 10k resistors in series, a 130ohm resistor, and a 1uF Tantalum parallel to each other and all in series with the driver.

Thank you.

So the two 10K resistors are in series with each other, and in parallel with the capacitor and the 130 ohm resistor? I presume they couldn't find a 20K resistor of the correct quality...

Looks like the whole lot might be able to fit into a 1/4" inline jack socket!

Used gold paint to fill up the lettering, I think this works with darker cups. Here the result

Sorry to revive an old  thread.  But how do these headphones compare to current flagships? Also compared to Fischer's current newer headphones that aren't mentioned as often on current headfi?

I have noticed that the rubberised coating on the plastic parts of the frame has become tacky/sticky. Is this normal? Can it be reversed?

Don't have that problem with mine. So no idea, but that happened before to my old JVC Kaboom boombox. I just ended up following this guy's advice I found online: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/archive/index.php/t-544235.html
