I went to their website but it seems they are not reviewing alot of items. They did a solid Z1R comparison/review though.

Being that you preferred the mojo+Hf I see why you put the tonal balance of wa8 as higher. I personally feel the wa8 is rolled off a bit too much in the high frequency

Well, recently I demoed the Sony WM1Z and really amazed, sound a lot better than the original Hugo which I owned previously.
And I've read comments about WM1Z and Hugo 2 sound very similar. So hope there is a more elaborate comparison for reference.

The 1z has a very weak amp hence one must go balanced. If you liked the 1Z better than the Hugo go for it. For me thr 1z is worth $600. I enjoy the Hugo and for me the Hugo is many steps above the 1Z.

People PLEASE! Don't quote the entire review in your reply. It's a PITA to scroll through half a page just to see your "thank you".

Hey, give the guy a break! He's probably still learning how to use his new Jitterbug smartphone...

Hi good review. I plan on getting an HD 800(s). You said you didn't think the HD 800 was as good as WA8 in terms of power. Do you think the Chord Hugo 1 is in the same league as WA8 for HD 800s?

Thanks

Strictly speaking about power output the WA8 is weaker than the Hugo. The WA8 outputs 350mW at around 45 Ohms and the Hugo outputs 600mW at 32 Ohms and 320mW at 56 Ohm (no specific output for 45 Ohm and I don't want to do the math). The difference isn't HUGE but it's there. The Hugo2 is slightly more powerful than the Hugo1 with an output of 740mW at 33 Ohms.

Basically the difference you'll hear would be between the tuning of each source device and not really the max power output. The brighter HD800 may pair better with the WA8 given the amps warm signature. Conversely, if you want to hear the HD800 without adding any warmth the Hugo will be the better choice. The Hugo2 is reportedly warmer than the Hugo1 by the way. The spider graph in the review from the OP is about right looking at the power specs.

Too many times people confuse a warmer signature with more power output.
