I really wouldn't worry about that. Anyone with half a brain would know who's at fault here, and it's not you. I'd still ask eBay how you can be hit with an unpaid item strike. . . when you've paid! They can remove negative feedback, they just choose not to get involved unless it's serious. But in this case, he didn't have any reason to either file an unpaid item strike, or give you negative feedback. What a turd. Did you check any of the feedback he's left for others? Might be interesting to glance through, see if he has a 'history'?

One last thing, I wouldn't retaliate with anything personal. Keep it factual, ie; - "unpaid item strike for goods paid and amicably refunded".

EDIT: Ooops, sorry. You already left feedback so ignore the above

And then I was hit with this ridiculous thing. I guess I'll just have to accept it.

reply to the negative feedback, with a link of this thread? that's all I can think of to fight it. Be mature about it and don't show the opposite over the internet. The last thing you need is an e-Fight.

Ebay unfortunately does have seriously incompetent and unreliable sellers. I recently bought 4 CDs from a seller with over 10000 positive feedbacks (~97%), and when I received the shipment, I saw that 1 CD was the wrong one. I contacted the seller asking for an exchange or a refund; a week later, I get a response which was in butchered English (with not a single word spelled correctly) accusing me of being a jerk and threatening negative feedback. I was so taken aback by his idiocy that I just dropped the whole issue and I never gave him any feedback. Ugh, what an ugly transaction that was.

So I can definitely relate to your frustration souperman. My advice for your situation would be to leave the seller negative feedback, and then try to resolve it through mutual withdrawal.
