Hey Head-Fi,
Have any of you successfully replaced a laser pickup in a Marantz SA-14?
The old laser won't read any discs. I already performed the standard troubleshooting, like cleaning and lubrication.
With this being a newer vintage item, many of the old school POT adjustments are replaced by self calibrating circuits, etc.
Unfortunately, the Service Manual does not have any procedures. I contacted Marantz support and any engineering notes on the matter are considered classified. I think it comes down to them wanting you to spend $$$ vs DIY repair.
The replacement lasers I have coming in appear to be an updated Sanyo part #.
Anyway, just wondering what I might be getting myself into.
Thanks!
