New to DIY stuff here, and was wondering if this is actually doable.

I love the construction and quality of the ATH-M50s, very durable and comfortable headphones. In my opinion, the quality of sound is inferior to Sony MDR-7506. I wouldn't mind changing the drivers if this is doable.

Anyone ever tried this? I'm thinking of picking up some MDR-7506 drivers and an ATH-M50s to see if this is doable.

Thanks.

Even if it was possible, I wouldn't do it anyways, because the (edit: internal) enclosures are most likely a different shape, changing the sound accordingly.

Drivers are voiced in with their enclosures in mind. Putting 7506 drivers in a different headphone won't make them sound like the 7506; it'll just sound off.
