I had my pair of Bose Triports broken and since it is out of warranty, they have offered to replace them with a brand new pair for $60.

For $60, are there better over-ear headphones on the market in comparison to the bose or should i take the $60 replacement offer?

thanks for your help

Yes, the Grado SR-60i will make a fine replacement. You might even be surprised at what you had been missing.

Also consider the Sony MDR-V6. It is very good, especially considering its price. They're also well made and very durable. I used - and loved - a pair for years becore finding this place.

Take the replacement offer, pedal it off on eBay for a profit and use the cash you've earned to buy yourself a better pair of headphones altogether.

JVC HA-RX700 or HA-RX900. I thought my SR60s sounded too harsh and lacked bass compared to my 700s...700s just sounded much better, and were only $35. After doing a couple mods (to both the 700 and 900s), I don't think anything really touches them in the price range.

Though the eBay option is pretty good.

Seconded, if you want comfort, isolation and sound quality, these are a steal.

I also believe you would be better off with the Grado phones mentioned above. Alternately, Creative Aurvana Live! would be a better choice in your price range.
