IME= In My Experiance, I think

you should be able to format it by hooking it up to the pc, then going to to My Computer, right clicking on the drive and going to format. not sure what file system iPods use though, maybe someone else nows

Hmm, that's a bit of a problem. I just went to check to see if the iPod software (the utility that formats the 'Pod) runs on WinME...but it doesn't. If you've got a friend with win2k/xp, maybe the easiest option would be to hook it up to their computer and formatting it that way. Actually, from a quick skim of the ipodlounge forums, that seems to be your only choice.

Hope you get it working!

if you want a very basic (but powerful) audio player go with foobar 2k. it should run perfectly on your computer. theres a plugin called FOO_POD that allows it to modify the database file on the ipod and therfor transfer music. its a simple task too, just select the playlist you want, make sure the ipods plugged in and select FOO_POD from the dropdown menu lables "componants" it will ask you what you want to do. just click "send current playllist to ipod"

very simple, very powerful, very easy

winamp's media library never works for my perfectly tagged lossless wma "album artist/album/## title" collection. ive tried many settings. wmp9 owrks well, but i like winamp skins and ipod compatability.
