Well I bought an Ipod Mini a couple days ago and I opened it. When I put in the Itunes C.D. and tried to install it, it said that I can only install it if I had windows 2000 or XP. I have windows ME so that doesn't work. I don't know what to do. Windows XP runs really slow on my computer and I can't find a windows 2000 disc. So I'm wondering what I should use for transfering songs to my Ipod Mini. Is there any programs you guys can suggest? Thanks.

If Dick Danger is right, I'd totally second the suggestion to run Winamp. It's free, customizeable, and takes up very little resources to run, especially if you use "classic" skins. I've setup mine to run all the standards including gapless(although it WON'T work with the following), and after a little visit to zophar.net and the "utilities"/"music and video" sections, my Winamp can now play direct rips of NES, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, MSX(for the 2 first original Metal Gear games), and Playstation games. Although they won't play on either of my DAPs, and they conflict like a mofo with Gapless turned on, having all those tunes is amazing. And I hear you can get them for Mac as well, through "Audio Overload".

If it works it's good.

I know drag and drop will not work with an iPod. Usually your music files need to pass thru iTunes to be playable on the iPod.

1. Upgrade the memory in your computer (min 256mb) since it sounds like it is pretty old, this should be a pretty cheap endeavor
2. Install Windows XP
3. Disable all the 'pretty things' -- "Right-Click 'My Computer'->Properties->'Advanced' tab->'Performance Settings'->Set to 'Adjust for best performance'" and you should be golden

you should have any problems using winamp, it is very easy to use. there are other programs that might work like anapod

I wouldn't really upgrade a pc just because some media player (which I don't even find all that great) doesn't support your OS

I like itunes for its radio selections. Not many people use them i bet, but the ambient and electronica sections are great!

You can find those stations on Shoutcast.com, and they're basically MP3 broadcasts so you're not limited to listening to those stations on iTunes only. But back to the topic at hand, EphPod is a pretty good and effective solutions. There are tons more programs that accomplish the same thing. Check iPodlounge and maybe do a Google search or two. You're bound to come up with something that suites your needs.
