Hi all,

The 3.5mm jack/strain relief on my Meelectronics M9 broke, so I was planning on just splicing in a new one from an old pair of headphones.

However, after cutting into the cord, I found the + and - wires to be VERY thin.  I don't know what gauge wire it is, but it's probably something like 30-40.

Is there a good way to strip wire this thin?  (Wire stripper isn't working well)  Also, any thoughts on the best way to splice in a new one? (At this point I'm just thinking electrical tape, since anything else will probably be too bulky)

Touch the end of the wire to a hot soldering iron and let the plastic melt away. You can use lighter as well but it is harder to control, or you can just use a razor blade to peel the plastic back. Instead of electrical tape, I'll use heat shrink..
