Player:
I'm using a Creative ZenV 1Gb. small and light, and works very well for me. It's MTP compliant so I don't even have to install additional drivers. I just use Media Player 11 to create my playlists and sycn.

Earphones:
Also tempted by the new Sennheiser sports range. Will wait for some positive reviews before I plonk any more $$$ on earphones

I regularly jog with iPod Nano in a sports rubber skin in my hand and AKG K81DJs on my head. Works like a charm

But if you like Audio Technica FC7s, their Creative rebrand HQ1700 got a really short cord that reaches just to the elbow.

I use a nano with the Nike+ system, including the Nike+ Sport Kit (sensor and receiver, $29), Armband ($29), and Air Zoom Plus shoes ($100). I just use the Apple earbuds since I don't listen to music while I run (I find it distracting, affecting pace and stride).

What I really like about this system is that I can run anywhere and always know my pace and distance. This is especially nice when traveling--just go out and run, no need to look for measured loops, etc. The nano will announce automatically (muting music if you're listening to music) at key points, like halfway and 400 meters to go, and 100 meter intervals after that (if you set distance goal, can also set time goal). You can also hit the center/select button at any point to get current pace and distance. All your running data is stored by the nano, and there's a nice web application with visual metrics.

For me, it was a no-brainer. I already had the nano, and I like Nike running shoes, so it was just $30 for the sensor package.

Does anybody run/jog/excercise with the Creative Zen Nano Plus and armband?

Shuffle and Portapros. The Shuffle weighs next to nothing - just throw it into your pocket. It has great tactile feedback, so it's easy to control without looking at. The Portapros (with holes cut out in the foam) provide good high extension, with a little extra bass which is nice to get you going. They are comfortable and stay on your head.
