I use Etymotic ER-4P's for working out in the gym 5 times a week with no problems.

Their cords may be just a little too long if you use an arm band, but not so long that you couldn't just gather the excess up with a twist tie.

On a side note, there are many cases with which you can adapt just about any mp3 player to work with an arm band. In my mind the limiting factor would be the weight of the player. One that comes to mind is the one I use for my iPod, it's called an Action Jacket.

And on a different side note, and I'm sorry if I seem judgmental, but not buying a Nano just because a lot of people have one doesn't make much sense to me. They would probably be the best fit for your application. Just my $0.02. No offense intended.

Any earphone with decent sound isolation, ie any Ety, is not appropriate for jogging. Gym - yes its great. But not jogging. First you are blocking out too much sound to be safe from cars, motorbikes etc. Second the sound isolation creates a heavy "thump" on your footfalls. Pointless to wear etys and you can even hear the music.

I have found Koss KSC-35 to be almost perfect for jogging. Stays over the ear well and good clean sound.

You may have decent luck with the Sonys as they dont isolate much, but still a bit of a safety risk, IMO.

You know I hadn't thought of that. Good advice.

Cheers!

I run alot too. What I have works absolutely perfect...a creative muvo n200 flash player (up to 1 gig) coupled with sony over the head, in ear sweat resistent headphones @ $12, an absolute steal. They work wonderfully and stay on your head when running. Additionaly, they allow you to hear horns when on the road as a safety precaution. Fold up nice and compact, too:

Granted the sound is good, but not great, but then again, who needs amazing sound when running?

iriver iFP 3xx, iFP 700, T10 and T30 have available armbands($20). https://secure5.nexternal.com/shared...0&Refresh=True

They have built in radios too which might be usefull. and rockbox is being developed for the 700s. The 2GB T10 is $150 retail, so you will be able to get it for even less than that. The 2gb nano is $200. The only time the nano really has an advantage is when you want to go with the 4gb version which is not available in the irivers and the competition(iaudio 6, sandisk e200) dont have armbands.

Edit: nevermind i take that back. http://onlinestore.cowonamerica.com/...ROD&ProdID=237 the iaudio 6 does have an armband. It retails for the same price as the 4gb nano, but i think it is a better player. So i guess if you want to go the anythingbutipod route then the T10 for 2gb or the iaudio6 for 4gb unless you can find a sandisk armband.

I have the Sandisk Sansa e260 (4GB), and the DLO Action Jacket. It comes with a belt clip and armband, of very good quality. I use it for running (with Senn CX300's), and it works great for me:

What do you guys think of these:http://reviews.cnet.com/Sennheiser_M...eID=7&messageI D=2084888&cval=2084888&tag=uolst

I was seriously thinking about those, but my local store had noone in stock. They look very promising - good sound from a reputable name, and they supposodly give an ultra-secure fit...anyone wanna take on for the team?

ooooo i remember seeing that a while ago. Thanks for reminding me! that's really tempting, however i dont have nike+ shoes. Maybe i'll just tie it to my shoes or figure something else out.

ALX3, you don;t need Nike+ shoes, regular shoes will work just fine, you'll just have to cut a small insert in the insole of the shoe to place the sensor.

I would suggest the Nano and the Sony MDR-EX90LP. The EX90 has much better sound than the EX71, 81 and has less isolation. The unusual design of these buds makes them really stay in the ear. Then add the Nike option to the Nano and you can keep track of your jogging.
