Ok lets start with I have had this player for 5 years now and I have had no issues. It has all of the hardware and software updates.

Now, I have a Denon DVD-5900 universal player and I just bought the Alison Krauss and Union Station Live 2-disc set. Fired up my amp, put on my cans and put the disc in. At first it did not recognize the disc so I put it into another Denon player and it worked. I put it back into the 5900 and this time it played, but I am getting a tick noise that is randomly in the cd appr. every 10 seconds. The big kick is the second disc plays fine.

Is it a disc problem or a player issue? I have never came across this issue and I have had many players.

Is it only on this one CD? That's just weird. Is it not some king of special disc?

This is a well-known problem of all Denon universal players -- GIYF.

They will play SACDs and DVD-A's until the cows come home, but at some point they barf on redbook. It only gets worse.

There was a warning sent out on this in the Supremus forum.

j/k

It has been noted that Denon has a software issue.
