I currently own an asgard 2 that I use with my hd 650s. Would it be worth while to upgrade to a different amp? I've read that the 650s scale well with an improvement in amping.p I don't want to spend more on an amp though then I did on my headphones.

A Bottlehead Crack would probably be worth it.  I think you can buy used, assembled ones for somewhere around $500-600 if you can't build one yourself.  Still a bit more than what the HD 650 is worth, but for headphones like that you generally need an amp valued even higher to get the most out of it.
