hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my Sennheiser cx300 to a new in-ear headphone around 60-90$.

I can't put my finger on the audio specifics that are important to me, I listen mostly to rock and some hiphop music.
I do know I'll be using the headphones on the bus a lot and I don't want the engine sound to bother me to much.

I'm considering the Etymotic MC5 and the Beyerdynamic DTX 101 IE.
I know the MC5 has better isolation, but do you think the Beyerdynamic will be enough to block engine noise to a satisfying degree?

in the  205 IEM's review here in the forum, the MC5 got a slightly higher mark for sound, but descriptions such as "can be slightly boring/lifeless" discouraged me a bit. also I'm a little worried about the comfort.

pricewise - i found the Beyerdynamic for 80$ on ebay, and the MC5 for only 60$ on amazon.

which would you recommend? is there a better choice for around 80$?

thanks a lot for your help!

These IEMs provide above average isolation and great soundquality like Brainwavz M4(highly recommended), Sony EX310(highly recommended), EX510, HSA Crystal, Philips SHE9850, Aurvana 3, S4 and RE0.

You can always try the shure se215's, they are really good for isolating outside noise and they are on sale I believe at earphonesolutions.com(25% discount using the promo code black).

The answer is seriously the Ety HF5. You won't even know you're on a bus.

thanks for all the responses!

the hf5 is a little expansive for me at 150$, also i can't use a discount if there's no international shipping, 'cause i don't leave in america.

is the mc5 really lifeless an boring and will be disappointing? does the beyerdynamic dtx 101 sound better? would the beyerdynamic isolation be enough on a bus?

do you have a better option at about 60-90$?

i did find the shure se215 for 100$. is it worth the extra 40/20$? is it much better?

thanks again.

HF5s at 150 are sooo much better than anything you can get in the 60-90 range that you should seriously consider saving up or extending you budget a bit to buy them

As others have pointed out, HF5s are $95 on amazon, and international shipping is about $16 (I just ordered a pair of HF3s from amazon and I don't live in america either, and that's what I was charged).

I have used Ety's a few times in the past, and once you put it on, you don't hear anything else at all, the isolation is just that good it's dangerous sometimes...
