Smooth? Really? Like which release? I have pretty much everything he's recorded including his trio work.

When I think of smooth jazz I think of Boney James, Peter White, Chris Botti, Richard Elliot, etc

check out Sex Mob, very sylized intrumental jazz , not smooth in composition but the horns are so smooth and sweet it makes me salivate, alot of emotion, body and rawness in the music.

a co-worker had me listen to The Bad Plus, good musicians but it was so boring i couldnt even take it.

Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Norman Brown, Paul Brown and of course the main man; Chet Atkins' later releases.
