Recommend a good USB-to-coax/optical adapter?

I have a DAC/amp that doesn't have a USB input (it only has optical and coax inputs) and a computer that only has USB outputs, therefore I need some sort of adapter to convert USB into coax or optical converter...

I have used one in the past that introduced horrendous distortion into the sound - so these units must have some sort of digital-to-digital processing or conversion in them?

Is there an affordable yet high quality unit that can be recommended?

Many thanks in advance...

Not a lot of personal experience in the inexpensive price range for achieving this.

But let me ask, do you need system sounds like for YouTube playback, etc.? Or streaming music only? If the latter, something like a WiiM should yield noise free results.

The thing with the small USB to optical converters is they have built in DAC chips, afaik. I'm sure some $20 solution will sound fine, just can't say from experience.

You need a DDC. Lots of options. Denafrips Iris is probably the cheapest best place to start.

Oh wow. $600 dollars for a digital-to-digital converter!

I was hoping for like a $50 dollar USB-to-optical adapter - and they do exist, but I suppose they introduce a lot of distortion into the signal chain?
That's cheap.

SMSL sell some more budget options. P0100 I think?
