Recommend a complement to HF-1s

Definately not HD 650s. They're both very bass dependant. I'd get something with a cleaner sound signature for critical listening like a HD595 or an Audio Technica would compliment them nicely.

After all, I believe it was you who recommended them to me not so long ago.

A nice set of cans. I find myself missing them. Trains, the K271S would definitely need an amp to properly complement the HF-1, but I really think it's a nice match. EDIT: Just noticed you have the TBH, which will do fine.

Well, yeah... these would be *quite* a bit better than the K271S but are more demanding in the amp and source area. I hear people are getting good results with the DarkVoice amp though.

Yeah, from what I recall with my experience with the Darkvoice, it was a very good amp for the phone, not too expensive either. If you get a chance, try that combo out.

Another vote for the K701. Whatever the AKG's arent aggressive enough with, the Grado's will fill in the void.

I agree on the 701 suggestion. At a recent meet, I had them side by side and it did seem to reach a pretty nice complement.
