Over the last few years, with the new line of high-end receivers and integrated, some of which even have a dedicated amp circuitry for the headphone jack, I think the gap may be narrowing between them and stand-alone head-amps. Currently, I am interested in the following models --
Yamaha A-S3000 Integrated Amplifier $7000 (ESS9018 DAC)
Yamaha RX-A3030 Receiver $1500 (ESS9016 DAC)
Oppo-105 Universal Player $1000 (ESS9016 DAC)
Anyone know other 'multi'-products with a high quality dedicated head-amp?
I was thinking of getting the Oppo HA-1 but does it really sound *that* much better?
