Anyone else heard the new Eminem album? That guy is still putting out material with substance! There aren't many guys who've influenced the rap game the way he has - especially over a 17 year span!

The new Eminem sucks. Actually the last decent album he put out was The Eminem Show (although Recovery was somewhat mediocre -- as opposed to plain horrible). But I can't get on board with anyone that says Eminem circa '97-2000 wasn't "real" hip-hop. He was legitimately one of the best rappers in the game at that point.

You can't tell me that the newest album isn't on par with anything else that has come out this year. Just because he's not exactly "fresh on a scene" doesn't negate the quality of what is on his record. I'm not saying he's the end all, but certainly more listenable than anything by 2 chainz, wayne, drake, or anyone from MMG.

For example:

My mother reproduced like a komodo dragon
And had me on the back of a motorcycle
Then crashed in the side of loco-motive with rap, I'm loco
It's like handing a psycho a loaded handgun
Michelangelo with a paint gun in a tantrum
About to explode all over the canvas
Back with the Yoda of rap in a spasm
(Your music usually has them)
(But waned for the game your enthusiasm it hasn't)
(Follow you must, Rick Rubin my little Padawan)
A Jedi in training, colossal brain and, thoughts of entertaining
But docile and impossible to explain and, I'm also vain and
Probably find a way to complain about a Picasso painting
Puke Skywalker, but sound like Chewbacca when I talk
Full of such blind rage I need a seeing eye dog
Can't even find the page, I was writing this rhyme on, (oh..)
Its on a rampage, couldn't see what I wrote I write small
(It says) Ever since I drove a 79 Lincoln with white walls
Had a fire in my heart, and a dire desire to aspire, to DIE HARD
So as long as I'm on the clock punching this time card
Hip hop ain't dying on my watch

is that his best verse throughout the whole album in your opinion? It seems average for em's standards, haven't listened to it so I am asking.

I have been in one of these arguments arguing whether or not an artist is hip-hop or not. It all depends on the persons perspective and how deep his/hers' understanding of hip-hop. Anyway, trying to argue em is not real hip-hop is pointless. Next thing you know these people will argue Jay Z ain't hip-hop smh...actually Em(cosigned by the God MC himself) is the one being questioned now....

Haven't listened through enough times to know every verse but I'd definitely say that is an example of a creatively written verse, both in content and delivery. And let's remember that average for Em is still leagues above most.

I'm not an Eminem fanboy, but I do think that he is automatically discredited because of factors that have nothing to do with his raps.
