The old Jay-Z mediocre? His stuff from he early 90s is far from mediocre. Im not even a Jay-Z fan either. He's a total sell-out though and I really dislike him.

Yeah, as described earlier he used to rap too quickly, and his lyrical abilities were never really prominent.

Rakaa Crown of thorns,
The Realest
Masta Ace
Termanology
Dipset
Bun B
Camu Tao
Jaheim
Slick Rick

All these have top notch mastering, not gonna find any better quality wise. Termanology maybe a bit weaker but it may be my copy. New Rakaa and new Dipset are a treat, reaching higher levels of musicality and detail.

I'm sure this won't be watched by many people, but Jin is nuts.

Rakaa Crown of thorns,

Another vote for that, even though I haven't actually listened to it yet. But... it's Rakaa Iriscience we're talking about. It's just not going to be a disappointment. Ev's Weatherman LP is also sick, and Ev and Alchemist are currently making the Step Brothers album, which will obviously be worth checking out.

@ dub Beatz

Is that a game show of some kind? Never expected to see that one.

For those interested in freestyles, Critical & Madness usually drop some funny stuff. A ton of their freestyle videos are on youtube.

Are you able to reccomand anything  grind time related with good production and mastering? All the things I heard there were megaunderground / sounded like it was produced in the grandma's garage, but yeah good, very promising lyricists... Cadallack Ron is good Okwerdz, Hollow da Don. Still waiting for something in decent audio quality from these guys.

I was talking about battles.

As far as a quality cd - Soul Like Khan by Soul Khan is crazy with a older feel and all. It's hard to find though I don't even remember where I got it from.

Rapping quickly doesnt make you a good or bad rapper. It just adds style. If you dont think his abilities were prominent then i dont know what to say really.

Sorry man. It's just my personal opinion, obviously. I just think at the same time he was putting stuff out there were plenty of better emcees to listen to. It's probably just personal bias, but I can't stand anything Jay-Z. His voice pisses me off, his flow pisses me off, he changes his style more than a red light district hooker changes panties and he's just straight ugly, lol. Nas chewed him up and spit him out.

Nothing to be sorry about but you cant say an emcee sucks because you're not feeling their style. It might not be for you but it doesnt make him a weak emcee. There's a difference. Yea he turned into a weak emcee but he use to have a high lyrical ability.

Style and change of style doesnt make you an emcee; your lyrics do. There are plenty of rappers who are very skilled lyrically that I can't stand listening to. I wouldnt call them mediocre emcees, I call them emcees I dont listen to.
