So what's everyone's favorite hip-hop album(s) for 2010?

I think mine is Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty

Das Racist - Sit Down, Man
Seriously awesome.  I was turned off big time listening to their Pizza Hut/Taco Bell song, but this stuff is legitimately humorous while still being good rap.  The beats are sick too.

And Despot's other songs are sick too.  I want to see him release an album.

I also finally listened to Sir Lucious Left Foot and it is great!

Also, Shad - TSOL

x2…easily one of my faves of last year also. Sample lyric: "I'm cliché…I'm as high as a rooftop…contradict myself in rhymes like Tupac." They were great live, too.

I'm suprised i haven't seen much cunninlynguists out there. My opinion the best most consistent hip hop label out there is Qn5
Artists from there
Tonedeff - he is a lyrical god I have to say and has the best flow out there
Cunninlynguists - with kno on the beats and Natti and Deacon on the mic just cant get any better
Kno - his new album Death Is Silent is a must its blended so well and i must say kno is one of the best producers out there
Substantial - more jazzy feel with his album Bop Alloy with the smoothest flow is really nice
Deacon the Villian & Sheisty Khrist - Niggaz with Latitude is one of my favorite albums this year
Kokayi - very underrated but starting to get attention with Robots and Dinosaurs.
Mr. SOS - has finally stepped up with his album How I Loved To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb came out in 09 is now one of my all time favorites and he is now coming out with a new one called Cassete Verite
so basically check out qn5 and you will find some really top of the line artists that are 5 steps ahead of the game

Another great forgotten lyricist: R.A. The Rugged Man.

Dude blows my mind every time I listen to him.

This might become a big list, but you asked for it

First and foremost: Roots & Black Thought, Public Enemy & Chuck D. Forget Tupac & Biggie, Black Thought and Chuck D are the greatest of all time.

Sabac Red, of former Non-Phixion fame. This guy is the best political rapper out there, period. Think Immortal Tech, but with a bit more variation in subject matter.

Revolution of the Mind. Waiting for the first album, but from what I've heard so far, it's going to be ridiculous.

Sage Francis. A true poet. Makes you really pay attention.

Rugged Intellect. Mad flow, I think that's all that needs to be said.

Xzibit. People usually don't take him seriously because he's famous, but he is one of the best, no other way of putting it. Heart of Man, At The Speed of Life, Carry the Weight etc.

Hus (& Libyus Creators). Jazz-hop. Chill.

Nieve & Cook. Same deal.

Promoe, of Looptroop fame. Occasionally conscious and deep (These Walls Don't Lie), occasionally humorous (Dogday Mornings). Always sick.

Dilated Peoples. Ev (The Weatherman LP -- check it out), Rakaa & Babu. Three times the illness. Worst Comes to Worst possibly my favorite rap tune of all time.

Az. Has enjoyed the shadow of Nas for all of his career, but is just as good as Nas, which is saying A LOT.

Vinnie Paz. Paz's Season of the Assassin was great but not JMT-like at all. See songs like Keep Movin' On, End of Days & Same Story for reference.

Jedi Mind Tricks. If you've never heard of them you've been missing out. Also check out Army of the Pharaohs.

Sadistik. A bit too emotional at times, but one of the most talented lyricists you'll ever hear, working with some of the sickest producers (Emancipator, Kid Called Computer) you'll ever hear. Forget Eminem.

Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff. Will Smith, who also gets a lot of crap for being popular. The stuff he dropped back in the Fresh Prince -days is unique, cheery and clean. Should get way more respect.

Adam Tensta. A Swedish electro-rapper, which might turn some people away, but definitely worth checking out. Has some great subjects and some very catchy beats. Not too radio friendly.

S.C.C Presents: Murder Squad Nationwide. Sounds like a bad old school gangsta group, which is what it is. WAY underrated, has some of the chillest old school tunes I've ever come across, like Who's Da Star and Ghetto Got Me Shadey.

Killah Priest. A Wu-Tang associate. Very underrated as well.

Cesar Comanche. The album Die In Your Lap is produced by 9th Wonder, need I say more?

Common (Common Sense formerly). part of the rap A, B, C.

And so on :) There are a ton of great rappers out there, it's just that they aren't on MTV most of the time.

ef common, i'll school this fool if i see him, he ain't part of rap nothing.  He a chump, he nothing but fake, he doing coke commercials, I can't believe u mentioned this clown's name in the same post as all those other artists.  This dude a fake chump.  I hate rappers that jump on the "conscious rap" band wagon but their words are just words, they dont live what they try n portray on wax, actors and entertainers are very different than mc's.  He acting like he conscious yet he don't even understand the struggle or the cause, and he doing commercials for companies that oppress the weak, this man is either confused or an amazing actor.  He a fraudulent, he wear a mask.

Well, I'm not as mad at Common as nastynice, but I've always wondered why folks think of him as a rap intellectual. It's a head-scratcher…

Biggie, Tupac and Big L all front so hard you'd think you were listening to a 50 Cent CD, yet most people consider at least 2 out of the 3 to be part of the Royal House of Rap, so to speak. I do too ('Changes' is one of my favorite rap tunes of all time), to an extent, but I personally like Common more. Or he has more songs that I like, rather. 'Part of rap A, B, C' was probably taking it a bit far, but at the very least the guy has a nice smooth flow and a bunch of good, laidback songs, eg. The 6th Sense(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTGxPiEg7iM), which is also probably the most known song by Common.

@ tru blu

I don't know about rap intellectual, I just think the man sounds good and has some good messages. But like I said, 'Part of rap A, B, C' was probably pushing it.
