"Empire of the Sun" (1987)- 8/10 A very good Spielberg directed movie.  Christian Bale had a pretty incredible performance for a 12 year old

Agreed.  Was going to watch that one again after reading UE's comments on his growing affinity for Christian Bale.

X-Men First Class - 5.5/10.  Sorry.  (For reference Batman Begins was a 9/10 and The Dark Knight a 8.5/10--as far as comic book movies go.)

Watched a few on Netflix over the past month:

Harry Brown - 6/10

Cube Zero - 3/10 (previous Cube was a 5/10)

Ip Man 2 - 4/10

Mackenna's Gold - 5/10

Fantastic Voyage - 4/10

The Island of Doctor Moreau - 7/10

The Nature of Existence - 7/10

The Fly (1986) - 6/10

Black Death - 7/10

Pandorum - 7.5/10 (I ♥ the concept.)

I liked Black Death too.  The start was, almost tortuous but...the twist was lovely.  Was there a twist?  Hmmm....

I miss these movies.  Elvira used to have a network show that only played movies like this.  Dark stuff that twists your soul.  I miss the 80s.....

Yup, 8.5/10 for Empire of the Sun.

Took three days but I am through it. Not because it´s booring but I have been working and biking hard the entire week so I am pretty much a zombie when I get home

Bale is obviously a natural talent. Hes borderline insanity make him hugely interesting to watch just about always. As for the movie first half was superb but somehow the second part and the conclusion wasn´t as good. But well that was later in my working week. Currently I am so tired I can´t even sleep :p

The Quiet Earth - 7.5/10

Man wakes up one day to find out that everyone on earth has disappeared. I love a lot of this movie, but it goes way downhill. Fairly dull and boring too in some spots.
Some sections really reminded me of my favorite video game, "Fallout 3".

Of course I also watch Independence Day again. Love that terrible movie, sorry, but it's true!

Trying to remember what else I've seen. Must be not that good if I can't remember!

Oh yeah..."The Bourne Identity". I'd give that a solid 8/10. Not worth buying for me unless I can find it in the $5 bin.
Hated the third, but I can't remember a thing about part 2.

I'm waiting to see "Cedar Rapids" the most but nobody seems to rent it. Only watch to get it is on DirecTV. No way I'm paying $6 for a stupid rental.
