Because of the journalistic approach of the film?  I'm using mafia genre loosely b/c I don't know how else to describe organized crime of that nature. If that's what you mean, I'll grant you that.

I think that's it basically.  It's not your typical Godfather, Good Fellas, Casino, Donnie Brasco flick.  Anyhow....

Midnight in Paris - 8/10.  Long time since I've enjoyed a Woody Allen movie that much.  His recent stuff has been too personally cathartic for my tastes.

Super 8 - 7.5/10 well filmed and directed but story was lacking in substance and integrity for me.  I like Abrams use of stylistic lighting, reminds me of what I've been missing from recent Michael Mann stuff.  Among about a billion other things.

X-Men First Class - I'm not rating comic movies anymore.  I liked it.  Magneto is awesome and so is the first 30 minutes or so of the movie.

Tokyo Story - 10/10

I remember seeing this way back when I was 18 or 19 (now 31) and I think this is yet another of Ozu's films that I was too young to understand and relate to. My level of patience was a bit lower back then also and I've now learned to appreciate the director's films.
First time I saw this I was quite bored by it, but found it all worth it towards the end. Somehow I remember very little of the movie and watching it again was a totally different experience. I liked pretty much all of it.

The movie to me is one of the slowest Ozu films I've seen in a long time. Generally I find them actually quite entertaining. Despite the slower first half, it's much better later on. It's a near perfect movie to me and I wish I had bought this instead of watching it on Netflix.
I feel stupid but I only remember one scene in the entire movie! It involves old drunk men. Weird. What also is even stranger is that I totally forgot it was in B&W.

For those that don't know, lots of Ozu films are on Netflix streaming!

Agree with the above.  Enjoyable and forgettable.

Fair Game - An interesting film on the Valerie Plame affair.  Ended rather abruptly for me, wasn't expecting that, but I liked over all.  Make sure your politics line up with the movie before viewing. 7/10

Jeremiah Johnson (1972)- 8/10  Very enjoyable movie, Robert Redford's lead character was great

Did someone rate a Redford film? I better drop my avy bomb them. The Red Fox present and accounted for. JJ is a good movie as well; an old fashioned meat n potatoes noble savage flick.

My last watch was a leering meta exercise. Yes you guessed right. It was an Almodovar film with Penolope Cruise. This time the lens wasn't as wanton as in Volver. I felt like I owed her money after that film. Just joking around. I'm not one to bemoan a well shot and beautiful women. 6/10

Put the kids to bed before you pull this DVD out of it's case. A nonstop freeway fast lane into the reality we always knew was in the 007 Bond films but they never showed. Ultra violent, ultra fast and ultra well made. A soundtrack very reminiscent of 007 with that reverb guitar but with a pulsating electronic groove underneath taking this to year 2011. Panavision and Fuji Film does orange now just as well as green in this masterpiece of cinima. Just remember to blink.

An edge of your seat ride into total fantastic insanity. A 12 on a scale of 1-5. Setting a new standard for "Over The Top".

Can´t even google to try some movie with that title? What language is that?

Speaking of over the top watched Drive Angry 3D and it was just so right. Action movies are seldom made like this these days. All trying to be to smart or have stories that make to much sense. Forgetting why people actually what people may want from action movies.

I could go on about story that doesn´t make sense or whatever but it was hilarious fun to watch from the beginning to end. I love William Fichtner. Got a perfect role in this one :)

From Cyrillic to cryptic.

The Mechanic was the movie. I used the import poster just to be different.

Short Cuts - 8/10

Never knew the extent of the runtime until it had run its time, though, even at three hours long it certainly didn't seem like it had taken up an eighth of the day, or a sixth of my wakened day. The lives of the people were quite mundane but somehow still interesting. As the storyline progressed the seemingly individual lives inter-twined with each other to create some great moments. What a cast, too, loads of good actors in there, I tallied at least fourteen that I knew and liked.

Saw Forrest Gump again with the girlfriend yesterday. It is just so beautiful, smart and realistic. It lets you see things in a whole different way. 89/100.
