Rate The Last Movie You Watched

The action scenes in this trailer looks cool too. Maybe it's the camera shots that really stands out. I hope this is a good action movie.

Carter - 6.7/10 overall, but action was fun

Not total trash, but partial trash that brings it down significantly. I will admit that I was entertained 60% of the time and the other portion just seemed lackluster.

It started off good, and got me hooked. But, at the 50% mark, I started seeing why people thought it was lackluster.

If you want to watch some crazy action, and done so differently that it's quite fresh at times, I'd recommend. Some scenes were very cool, and so different that it was quite fun. If you are looking for a plot, skip this. Watch it for the action.

I like the scenes were shot with the panning of the camera (not recommended for those that easily get motion sickness), and I can see why people l like long shot cuts. It just visually flow better.

Joo Won is a bad-ass. He just need good supporting production to really shine IMO. I thought the tattoo was pretty cool.

You cant appreciate long cuts until youve seen them. Once you know its possible everything else seems low effort and terrible. Even if its not really done in one-shot but made to seem that way with seemless edits or digital tricks it makes the scene soooo much more engaging. If you want an easy way to tell a good movie (or director) from a bad one, see how frequently edits are used. Action films are obviously much more difficult to pull off, but it can be done and those movies are usually great even if just for the appreciation for the attempt to make beautiful long edits. An example of a great one would be The Revenant (and Inarritu’s also amazing Birdman). An example of one that might be more disorienting or maybe not so great a film due to other reasons but has mesmerizing cinematography in kinetic scenes with long edits are Nolan’s Tenet or Dunkirk.

I used to watch old kung-fu movies (or even jackie chan) because they’d do long coreographed action scenes in one shot. So impressive even if old kung fu movies looked more like ballet at times. Old kung fu movies are mostly silly fun but there are ocassionally some epic scenes.

Not an example of long edit scene but example of an epic kung-fu scene. Obviously homaged in Tarantino’s Kill Bill (among many other influences in his films that get paid loving tribute).

Predator - 4/10

I can't think of a single positive thing to say about this movie.
It's just that bad. Not even worth sitting through.
It was cool when it came out. And there are iconic lines and scenes, my fav, the shaving scene in the jungle…but imo ymmv

granted after that the next 6 preditors were mixed, some terrible there was 1 or two gems in there

Uncharted - 3/10

One of the worst video game to movie adaptations i've ever seen. It's also just a really generic and bland movie. The two lead roles were just seriously miscast.
Any single thing you loved about ANY of the Uncharted games is totally missing here.
To make this work it really needed to be more of a movie that nearly non-stop action scenes with some suspense. Maybe some scene where stealth was needed. Instead the movie is just mostly story set up with not much going on. I was surprised to see there's almost no shoot-outs at all. It's like during the entire movie Nathan only used a pistol once. Plus, it's missing all those epic chase sequences that made the game so great. I don't even know if you could call this an action movie.

The movie should have been more like Die Hard + Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Plus the comedy in this is just a total fail. Uncharted 2 had a lot of funny dialogue in it. That's one thing I liked about the game.

FYI Uncharted 2 IMO is one of the best games ever made. I'd probably put it up there in my top 3 with Fallout 3 and Dishonored.
I've played it so many times and really miss it. I hope we eventually see another in the video game series.
Uncharted 2 is by far the best in the series I think.

I actually liked the original Predator with Arnold, and it should be the one that popularized the predator concept. Isn't it the best Predator movie?

Directed by John McTiernan of Die Hard fame. Back when action movies wuz cool.

I watched a lot of Netflix today!

The Informer - 9/10

During maybe the halfway mark I thought..oh great, this is where it starts to turn bad. Luckily those are the best parts of the movie.
Tons of graphic violence (even more so than like Die Hard) and dozens of F-words all through the movie. Maybe even surpassing Casino?

"I Just Killed My Dad" - 9/10

A must see if you like crime documentaries. This one is also very short and only 3 episodes. It's best if you don't know anything about it first. Don't watch any previews.

Currently watching ReservATION Dogs and loving it! Only on episode 3 but it's so funny! It's produced by Taika Waititi if you know who that is.

My favorite video game Franchises are FromSoft, and I think Bloodborne, and Sekiro would make good movies. But, I doubt that anybody can really do them justice. I'm quite skeptical of movies to video games or video games to movie adaptations. I just had a bad feeling about this one seeing the scores. I'm not that big of a fan of the this franchise. I think Naughty Dog's best video games are the 'The Last of Us' series. Those were very well made games. I know there will be an HBO show coming out. I hope it's decent.

It is very rare. The last decent one I can think of (and doesnt even count as an adaptation) would be Disney’s “Wreck It Ralph”. Ralph is basically Donkey Kong, and the movie’s plot has little to do with the videogame’s plot.

I'm in the same boat, but you got me thinking, what's out there? There's this one, based on IMDB scores:

https://screenrant.com/best-films-tv-shows-adapted-from-video-games-imdb/

Mostly TV shows, but interestingly the top rated one, "Arcane", wasn't even on my radar. Then there's this list, which has a bunch of movies I didn't even know existed:

https://www.polygon.com/what-to-watch/23196727/best-video-game-movies-adaptations-tv-watch-streaming

A Dead or Alive movie? How'd I miss that? I've played all those fighting games. Looks like well choreographed, cheesy fun action.
