It could be worse. The OP could be a hard-core objectivist instead, insisting that everything expensive is just a rip-off and all you need is $50 rubbish to get maximum fidelity. :beyersmile:

Rather though, the solution is to stop reading the forums... just like I stopped reading the regular news, and now I'm much happier.

I read Slashdot and ARSTechnica instead, which are way more interesting.

I get the itch to try the other, newer, more expensive stuff, and most of the time I get to walking away thinking "no need to blow money yet." Which is closer to the objectivist POV, just not the extreme end of it.

That said, I'd advise anyone starting with gear less than what I have that the stuff that isn't an upgrade to what I have may be an upgrade to them...but with the caveat that while I would hear enough of a difference to upgrade, as always, YMMV.
