no prob. that's a prototype cage that i bought from Raal. according to Aleks, it's 1 of 3 made. not sure if they are going to be producing any more though. I shared some nicer pics of it earlier in this thread.

Thanks for the kind offer! Very kind of you! Perhaps when i am ready to consider the VM-1a.

Determined to enjoy the current set up rather than rushing to upgrade. And enjoying the period of calm with my desktop rig before work dictates I have to start travelling again.

I use a TI-1b transformer interface between my HPA4 and my SR-1b. It uses the stock male-to-male 4 pin pigtail cable from the HPA4 to the TI-1b and an upgraded Star 8 silver cable from the TI-1b to the SR-1b. I get plenty of volume using this combo.

Hi @rlawry Apologies if you already covered this (or anyone else) but with over 400 pages I have not found it yet. Did you have the opportunity to inclination to compare the HPA4 via TI-1b vs. the Jot R? I'm waiting on a VM-1a, wondering if in the meantime I should fork out for a TI to use with the Benchmark. I personally find the Jot R sounds great already with both SR and CA, but would appreciate any opinions otherwise. Thank you.

@MokhaMark: Sorry, I have only heard my SR-1b phones with my TI-1b and Benchmark HPA4 amp. I have had tube amps in the past including the nice Quicksilver Headphone Amp but only heard them with other phones I have like a couple of Kennertons and 1More Triple-Driver Over Ears phones. I personally like that fast, detailed, transparent, spacious sound of solid-state, particularly the HPA4 although tube amps have their charms also. I thought about picking up a Jot R given their reasonable price but I am awaiting a Subpac wearable subwoofer that requires a line stage output and the HPA4 has this feature, not sure about the Jot R.

Thank you very much for the info. Ironically, I just sold a Quicksilver, I love that amp for HD800 and I did try it with a TI-1a while I briefly had one but there was just not enough juice. It had a beautiful timbre for both the SR and CA, but just couldn't produce bass. I have not had a TI box since getting the Benchmark so no basis for comparison.

Yeah, the close out price on the Jot R is insane, I picked up an extra just for the hell of it but now wish I had put it toward a TI box.

Look forward to your comments on the Subpac! FYI, the Jot R does have both SE and XLR outputs, so it might also work, but no doubt the HPA4 makes a much better preamp...

I have kind of a loaded question... Of those that own the CA-1a/SR1a and VM-1a combo as well 1266 TC... Any chance the Raal combo makes the TCs redundant?
