R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby

For those who gave some advice on hooking the R5 by Bluetooth to a current model BMW, thank you for your input. I discovered that the unit was connecting at a relatively low bitrate when I turned off Bluetooth audio in the car settings, and could play music from the Hiby app. However, I still have not figured out how to make the quality reasonable and I also have not been able to get this to work with Amazon Music. Until the bluetooth audio update comes out I may simply be able to hook up the car as desired.

Hi, recently purchased the R5 and like it so far but can't seem to get the latest firmware. It came with build v 1.62 and when I try to get an over the air update, it indicates that I'm on the latest firmware (although it seems I'm 2 back). Any assistance on getting around this to the latest would be appreciated.
Yeah - my R5 just arrived too pre-installed w/ 1.62G
Both 1.63G and 1.71G are listed as newer on Hiby's site

@HiByMusic Any thoughts on this?

On the player though ... really nice. UI is decently responsive for a lower SoC.
Lovely seeing MQA files fully rendered out to 24/192

Has anyone tried pairing R5 with Sony IER M7, Oriolus BA300s? I like R5 features and wish to make it sounds slightly warmer...

System wide MSEB would allow you to achieve pretty much any sound you want across most music apps.

I mostly use PEQ on nuetron and listen of sd card though and haven't messed with MSEB too much yet. I'm sure some other will chime in.

There should be a new version of UAPP soon on the play store which fully supports R5 ... spent a good few hours working w/ their devs testing builds for the r5 ... can play everything perfectly include MQA's etc.

The player is much snappier in response than the stock player ... it's gonna be great

There's update check when you open the "about" section of hiby player, does that do anything? I'm not sure whether completely uninstalling hiby music is even possible given it's system app and we don't have root access. Perhaps it could be done through adb..

Yeah ... i think they update the Hiby Music app independently of the playstore
It's why i want UAPP to work fully ... need album-artist sort option badly
