Once the sale starts on there, the black ones are available too which is the color I want.

I bought a grey one since it matches some of my other gear, but black is good too! Congrats on your pending purchase ...

I asked Hiby about the grey color as well, but they said they will not have any available until October.
When you get your HiBy R5, if you haven't got one get a balanced 4.4 cable. They will be on sale all over Ali. The 4.4 output is really something considering the size of the HiBy. Enjoy.

I second this as well as picking up the hiby 2.5 to 4.4 adapter. It's a solid little connector.

That is another thing I was going to do as well. I can then compare the 3.5mm output with my Fiio A5 amp connected against the balanced output. I doubt though that the balanced out will offer higher fidelity than the 3.5 out with the headphone amp connected.

I hope the 4.4 surprises you.

I did test the balanced 2.5mm on my R3 Pro against the 3.5mm with my amp connected. The balanced out was good, but the 3.5 out with the A5 amp connected sounded better. The R5 has far more power though than the R3 Pro, better opamps, and improved specs in many other aspects as.well. I may very well end up finding the balanced out on its own to be equal or even better than the 3.5 paired with the amp. It will be interesting to test.

I wouldn’t be surprised that you do unless you have highly insensitive planars in your collection.

You should be very happy with it. The balanced out can drive almost everything in my collection to blistering volumes. I wish the 3.5 had a bit more power, because I have a pair of AKGs that don't match well because of it. But everything else I use regularly has balanced cables (either 4.4 or 2.5 with an adapter), and it's amazing. I just wish I'd have gotten it on sale!

This is funny though, and I think it was dharmasteve that said it after I had bought the R3 Pro. He said I should get the R5 instead and I will probably end up getting one later anyways. They certainly ended up being right on that.
