Quick! V6 or 495?

Well, the V6's with the Beyer pads qualify as what people stereotypically think of as a headphone....

closed, single entry, circumaural, deep, extended bass, fairly small, earcups move, easy to drive, kinda bright, kinda closed in sound, very detailed, etc. etc. etc.

...says Sony on the side....

Jlo mein,
I don't think you can get the V6s in Canada, but I believe the 7506 IS available. I probably would've bought the 7506s locally instead of ordering from DJmart had I known that they were obtainable here. I would've ended up paying the same amount or even less. And of course, I wouldn't have had to wait 9 days to listen to them...

How come none of those links work. Site down?

You can get V6s in Canada but I think high end headphones are pretty hard to get in general. Take the HD580s for example. I found them at a little corner at a high end audio equipment store.

Isn't it enough that you can find them? Nevermind which corner they're in

If you're looking for something like the V6 (closed, circumaural, efficient and suitable for portable use), then try the Sennheiser 280. The 495s are nice, but the 280 are better, I think, for portable use and they give great isolation.

Well, Howie, you are going to have to tell us what you are going to be using them for, LOL!

You still haven't told us what your uses are going to be to the detail we need to give you a recommendation!

I thought I did? One of them will be plugged into a discman or MD player for music. Mine will be used for music and perhaps some gaming and TV. It will be plugged in discmans and receivers.

Hi Howie,

For your use with portables/TV/games I would say the V6. I owe both and find the HD495 really need an headphone amp to sound good. Although the latter look cool the V6 are much more sturdy and portable. It also depends on what kind of music you like!?

IMO, rock/techno/hiphop is better on the Sonys and jazz/blues/classical music is clearer with the Senns. In terms of comfort the 495 is loose and the V6 are tighter.

Chewy
