I have a couple extra Dual SO8 to 8-pin DIP Browndogs, and would like to know:

These are the ones that have IC1 on top & IC2 on the bottom. Is it possible to use these with only 1 op-amp?

Another words; I would solder an AD8620 to IC1 and leave IC2 open.

Or; do I need to "jumper" a couple of pins?

No, you can't do that. Observe the difference in the pin locations between single-channel op-amps and duals.

Could you "jumper" something to make it work? Well, theoretically yes. I mean, the adapter itself is just a glorified "jumper". But you'd end up building a new adapter on the same platform by following that path to its conclusion.

This will not work without modification. A dual 8-pin Browndog dip socket won't allow you to use a single opamp. I suppose you can rewire it but why go through the trouble and mess?

Thanks. I e-mailed browndog earlier today and just got a response from them about this.

They said; I could use the dual SO8 to 8-pin DIP adapter with either 1 or 2 single channel op-amps, but NOT with 1 dual channel op-amp.

I'm going to get more adapters and do it the right way, and be safe.
