Hello
I have the sp1000 and pairing with u18. The sound is good but needs little more lower end.
I also have black label amp/dac. If I connect the sp1000 to the black label to get more punch, is the sp1000 now only being utilized as streaming or is the Sound quality still coming from Sp?
Here's what I want to accomplish: the quality from the sp1000 with black label giving more power.
If the black label is using the amp and Dac then the sp1000 is useless in this scenario.
Thanks for you help!

Pretty bad that an expensive dap has not enough power and a bad eq. Try the ifi tiny new amp, it has a nice bass boost.

Hi Jason, if you connect the SP1000 with the USB C or with a toslink câble using the SPDIF output (3,5 output), you will use the SP1000 only a a streamer and the black label as the DAC/amp.

If you are connecting it digitally (via USB) SP1000 is just the transport and feeds digital signal (hence no different from any other source like a phone). If you want to have the analogue sound from SP1000 amplified by the iFi you should use the 3.5mm headphone output of SP1000 (as line out) and connect it to the 3.5mm input of iFi. There is a line out option in the quick setting slider of SP1000. This way you are using SP1000 mainly as DAC and ignoring the DACs inside iFi BL (feeding straight to Amp).

Ok, AK just came out with an Amp for the SP1000, wondering if anyone has tried it yet. Like the op, I have the same CIEM’s and also have a bigger silver cable with my HD800’s. Any setup like this is going to need more power. I saw this post in a search so thought I would share...let me know what you guys think or have heard before I plunk down like $800 to buy this thing.

I used black label with SP1000 and it sounded really really good. I bet it will sound superb!
Driving the HD800, the black label did fine job.

Thanks I just ordered the SP1000 Amp...been waiting and waiting for it. It will fit very well and has a nice sized 3,700Mah battery as well. Taking my chances on that A&K quality and getting a good fit to boot. I hate carrying two bars of soap like that around but hear you on the quality of your amp. Wish me luck :p
