Would it harm either my TV's picture tube or my hard drives if I were to place my TV and tower PC together on a cabinet? As I understand it, the speakers in my TV are supposed to be magnetically shielded. I'd appreciate any help I can get on the matter...

There shouldn't be any problems from the magnetic side - however, you might experience an impact on your tv receiption with a pc close to your tv-set.
