No I think they all have that, and as far as I know, it is an indicator of when the phones were produced, only decipherable to cunning Shure employees

what that means is that your E2c's were used in some covert government op, and then sanitized. who knows what nefarious purposes your E2c's were used in before they were dumped on the unsuspecting public?!
