I recently bought some previously "enjoyed' Denon 5000's and quickly noticed that the supplied headphone adapter did not work well when attached.
 
Is this the correct one that came with your Denon's? Does the 3.5 screw off the top of the cable to allow the 6.5 room sit?

I bought mine new and yes, the screw on adapter is the right one and should fit fine.

If you're asking what I think you're asking then no. Can you clarify what you're unscrewing the 3.5mm plug from?
You should be able to just screw the existing 3.5mm end right down in to the 6.3mm adapter with no issues. From the picture it does look like the same as the stock adapter, but I can't see it that well.
