Hey guys,

So, I am planning on getting a DAC for my laptop. However I require S/PDIF out. So, it seems that the uDAC is the best choice for me. However, I would like to know if it can properly output Dolby and DTS streams via its S/PDIF out.

I believe uDAC is only converting the series bus signal to S/PDIF (from one digital format to another). It actually doesn't care what the signal is composed of. It is still all 1 and 0 to uDAC. It will be up to the receiving end to decide / decode whether it is 2 channels or Dolby 7.1.
